Privacy Policy
Just a Markdown Reader Privacy Policy
Scope and Information Handled by the App
This policy applies to Just a Markdown Reader for Android, provided by cum38898. The app reads Markdown text, Markdown files, and companion images that the user explicitly opens, selects, or shares with the app.
This content may include personal information. The app handles it only to provide the reading functionality requested by the user. It does not search for or read unrelated files.
How Information Is Used
Opened content is used only to parse and display Markdown, embed explicitly shared companion images, create the table of contents, track the current section, and support reader navigation and display controls.
External Transmission and Third Parties
The app has no developer-operated server and no functionality for uploading opened documents, images, file names, or display settings to cum38898. It does not have Android's Internet permission.
The app does not include advertising, analytics, usage tracking, telemetry, or developer-operated crash reporting. cum38898 does not sell or provide this information to third parties.
Android and the application that provides a selected file may handle that file before making it available to Just a Markdown Reader. If the user chooses a file from cloud storage, a network-backed provider, or a synchronized folder, Android or that provider may transfer or process the file under its own terms.
When the user chooses a link in a Markdown document or the privacy-policy link, the app asks another installed application, such as a web browser, to open it. The destination application or service may process information under its own privacy policy.
Information Stored on the Device
Opened documents and images are held only as needed for the current viewing session. They are not copied into an app-managed document library or retained by the app after the session.
The app stores only the user's light- and dark-mode background and text brightness preferences in private local app storage. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled for this data. These settings are deleted when the user clears the app's storage or uninstalls the app.
Security
Display settings are stored in the app's private Android storage. Protection of opened content also depends on Android, the source application or file provider, the device lock, and the user's device settings. Users should protect the device appropriately when viewing sensitive information.
User Control
Users choose the text, documents, and images provided to the app. Display preferences can be reset in the app. All app settings can be deleted by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
Google Play and Android
Google Play and Android may process information related to purchases, installation, updates, diagnostics, and similar platform operations. Google's privacy policy applies to such processing. Just a Markdown Reader does not send the contents of opened documents to Google.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when the app's functionality or handling of information changes. The updated policy and its revision date will be posted on this page.
